Using Leap Policy Control - an integrated policy control framework fair usage policy programs based upon agreements with subscribers. Fair usage dictates average bandwidth thresholds, with allowances for extended bandwidth access. Using Leap Policy Control measures, operators have the flexibility to implement a number of options:
- Sending a warning notification (e.g., SMS or email) indicating excessive usage (this may help in what is known as “bill shock prevention”).
- Down-speeding usage or limiting prioritization
- Prohibiting bandwidth intensive services or applications during peak traffic hours
- Providing options to sign up for temporary or permanent upgrade in service plan
- Prioritizing or blocking specific services, content or applications, in order to encourage subscribers to take advantage of special offers or packages
